IRISH KALEIDOSCOPE
“Seisiun”
“Cead Mile Falte” – A hundred thousand welcomes to the Emerald Isle where music, history and heritage is delivered in a colorful,
exciting and fresh medium by Dearbhail Finnegan and Robin Slater of County Meath, Ireland.
The Cultural Kaleidoscope is proud to bring this spectacular and colorful educational program to you. Ireland’s native dance is brought
to life by rhythmic footwork and colorful dance costumes, spirited by the music of the Irish harp and traditional drum, the bodhran.
In the assembly and workshops, the audience will have the opportunity to experience dancing an Irish jig, learning about the Gaelic alphabet
and joining in with an Irish folk song. A live demonstration of Ireland’s folk instruments …harp, tin whistle, bodhran and concertina…is
combined with a multimedia experience presented by artists dressed in traditional Irish costumes.
The Irish Kaleidoscope experience will leave you feeling you have just been to a “Seisiun” – a gathering of people for traditional
Irish music, song, dance, story telling and laughter.
The Irish Kaleidoscope is available January 12th to February 13th, 2009. All dates must be booked before November 17th, 2008. |
“It was truly a privilege to host the Irish Kaleidoscope at Cathedral School. Our entire school community was greatly enhanced by the
talented presence of Dearbhail Finnegan and Robin Slater. Their high level of professionalism, along with their genuine goodness of heart,
made the residency a week to remember for everyone! Their enthusiasm and love of their country was contagious and our students, staff, and
parents whole-heartedly embraced this spectacular cultural experience. Our entire student body was immersed in the culture of Ireland throughout
the week and by final program time, dancing the jig did indeed become a reality.”
