TEACHING RESOURCE GUIDES
Our Teaching Resource Guides are an easy and convenient way for teachers to extend our presentations to lessons that students can use before or
after their Cultural Kaleidoscope school program. The guides are provided to schools, at no charge, with each of our presentations.
Our Teaching Resource Guides can make a teacher’s life easier. The lessons are simple and easy to implement. Each lesson was designed
to provide reinforcement of language arts skills rather than historical facts about the country. The questioning format is similar to items
found on statewide assessments. The lessons are primarily based on process standards, an area of concern for school district personnel everywhere.
The information is presented in a student-friendly format with interesting graphics. The Teaching Resource Guides are also teacher friendly;
scoring guides and alignment to both national and state standards are included in the guide.
The lessons are designed for students in grades 3 and above and do not need to be taught in the sequence they are presented in the guide.
In an elementary school, a teacher may want to select the geography, music and art lessons only. Another possibility would be for students in
grade 3 to learn about the culture of the country through the music and art lessons and 4th graders could study the geography information
while 5th graders are introduced to the history lessons. Another option for older students would be to provide the lessons as an extra
credit project. The assignments could be completed during the school day or could be used as extra credit homework.
No prior knowledge is necessary for most of the tasks; students read the information and answer questions while referring to the text.
This is similar to what students do for state assessment tests. During testing, students are not taught the material, but are asked to read
information and show comprehension or organizational skills. Students answer the questions without teacher guidance and the same method can
be used for most of the lessons in the Teaching Resource Guide.
