Mid-America Arts Alliance Regional Touring Program
The Regional Touring Program enriches the cultural life of communities in a six state region … Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas … through support of touring performing arts programs.
Presentations of any professional performing artist must be from outside the school’s state. Note: This means that schools in Missouri can not use this grant for the Russian or Ukrainian programs because Sergei is a Missouri resident/artist. ( Missouri schools should apply for the School Touring Grant with the Missouri Arts Council.) Schools in the other 5 states could apply for this funding for the Russian or Ukrainian programs.
The presentation must include an educational activity, which would be a Cultural Kaleidoscope program during the day in the school, and a performance open and promoted to the general public after school or in the evening. Through its public performance or educational activity, the project must serve people that lack access to performing arts and other cultural activities due to geography, economic conditions, ethnic background, disability, age or other factors.
Funding: They will fund 25% of the artist’s fee if the artist is from the six-state region. (This would include Sergei and the Russian and Ukrainian programs for schools not in Missouri.) They will fund 15% of the artist’s fee if the artist is from outside the six-state region and international artists. (This would include our Irish and Australian programs as these artists come from their home countries.) Note: They will fund an additional 5% of the artist’s fee if the applicant school is located in a rural community.
They will accept grant applications on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning December 1, 2006 through February 28, 2007. The grant will fund projects taking place between July 1, 2007 and June 30, 2008. It’s best to apply early.
