Australian Kaleidescope program presenter photo.AUSTRALIAN KALEIDOSCOPE

“Out of the Dreamtime”

From the only continent that is also a country comes “Australian Kaleidoscope” with Aubrey and Martin Beggs of Long Jetty, New South Wales. They will introduce audiences to both the young nation of Australia that was federated in 1901 and the ancient land of the indigenous Aboriginal people who have lived there for at least 40,000 years.

Aubrey and Martin will intertwine songs and stories with a multi-media presentation to give a look at the Land Down Under through the eyes of the convicts sent to the “colony of New South Wales” – the very first settlers who arrived in the late 1700’s – and the explorers, farmers, shearers, cattlemen and miners who brought their pioneering vigor to this fascinating land of the kangaroo, platypus and emu.

Aboriginal artwork, artifacts, maps, pictures, flags and other Australiana will be a part of the workshops. Audiences will have the opportunity to participate in forming a bushband, to join in a simple folk song and learn an Aboriginal dance.

The Australian Kaleidoscope experience will have you saying “G’day” to your “mates” and understanding the meaning of “billabong.”

The Australian Kaleidoscope program is available March 2 to  May 1,2009. All dates must be booked by December 30, 2008.

“We found our day to be an exceptional experience for our students and staff. The presenters from Australia brought the history and culture of their country to life for us. The program varied to accommodate the ages of our students. They used humor and music to teach and to share their wealth of information about their homeland. The unique program taught and inspired us all.

We, children and adults, felt that we had been to Australia and loved it. Martin and Aubrey conducted the program with such high standards. They became outstanding role models for our students. Our only regret was that our day was over too quickly.”
